FAQ

Short answers about license and cost, supported systems, ports, updates, HestiaCP, the API, uninstalling and running ArcPanel beside other software.

Written for ArcPanel 2.2

Is ArcPanel free?

Yes. ArcPanel is open source under the GNU General Public License, version 3 or later. There is no license key, no paid edition and no limit on servers, users or domains. Paid help is available as a support service.

Which systems does it run on?

Debian 12 and 13, and Ubuntu 22.04, 24.04 and 26.04 LTS, on 64-bit x86 (amd64) servers with nothing else installed. See Requirements.

Does it run on arm64?

Not yet. The packages are built for arm64, but the installer stops on arm64 servers in ArcPanel 2.2.

Can I install it beside another panel, or on a server that already hosts sites?

No. ArcPanel installs and configures its own web, mail, DNS and database servers, and the installer refuses a server that has another panel. Start from a fresh server and move the sites over; Moving from HestiaCP shows how for HestiaCP.

ArcPanel is a hard fork of HestiaCP 1.10.5. It keeps HestiaCP's command line and its account model, renames everything, and adds a new panel, resellers, Node.js and Docker apps, a port registry and REST API v2. HestiaCP backups restore on ArcPanel; there is no in-place upgrade.

Which ports does it use?

Port For
8083 The panel and the API
8086 Webmail (Roundcube)
8087 phpMyAdmin
80, 443 Websites
25, 465, 587 Sending and receiving mail
143, 993 IMAP
110, 995 POP3
53 DNS
21, 12000–12100 FTP
22 SSH
30000–39999 Apps of the accounts, private by default

The panel port is chosen at install (--port) and changed with v-change-sys-port; the webmail and phpMyAdmin ports under Server settings.

How is it updated?

From the APT repository apt.arcpanel.org. Each night the server installs new patch releases of its release line by itself, such as 2.2.4 on 2.2; a new release line, such as 2.3, is announced in the panel and installed when you choose. See System packages.

Is there an API?

Yes: REST API v2, on the panel port, with access keys that carry permission sets, and a dry run for every change. See the REST API reference and AI agents and arc for the TypeScript SDK and the arc command.

Can I script it?

Yes. Every change the panel makes is a v-* command you can run yourself; see CLI commands.

Does it support PostgreSQL, several PHP versions, Node.js and Docker?

Yes. PostgreSQL is an installer option, beside or instead of MariaDB. PHP 7.4 to 8.5 can be installed side by side, with a version per domain. Node.js apps run per user under pm2, and Docker apps come from a store of ready-made applications.

Can resellers sell hosting with it?

Yes. A reseller account hosts customers of its own within its package; see Resellers. White label puts your name and logo on the panel.

Can I uninstall it?

There is no uninstaller: ArcPanel changes the whole system. To stop using it, move your sites off the server and reinstall the operating system.

Where do I report a bug or ask a question?

Ask in the GitHub discussions. Report security issues privately, as the security policy explains.
